The Modern Rose Brunch and Coffee Shop
This post is mostly just for kicks and quirky coffee lovers. It’s got nothing to do with massage. I promise.
My friend and accountability partner met me at The Modern Rose for coffee, but there was so much more. This place is different and you want to go. I promise.
The tall man who greeted us at the door introduced himself as Jeff. Broad smile, casually dressed, and just as attentive and cordial as anyone could hope for.
No two tables or chairs are the same. Modern Rose has a distinctive Grandma’s house feel to it – if Grandma were Parisienne and eternally young but stuck in the 1900s. It’s a fun, relaxed, vibe with an odd sense of elegance. It’s kind of like any glamor will do, just sit and unwind awhile.
As soon as I saw Mermaid Latte on the menu, I figured the powers that be must want me to try it.
That’s logical, right?
Don’t answer that. In any case, I couldn’t make up my mind whether to get my latte hot or cold, so I ordered both. They were not only beautiful, they each had their own flavor profile. The cold one was perfect for this unbearable heat, but the hot one tasted better.
When I asked what Butterfly Pea tea is, essentially I was told it is what it is. I Googled it.
The Latin name for Butterfly Pea Flower is Clitoria Turnatea. It looks like its name. In case you don’t believe me, here’s an image.
The whole menu blends flavors that you’d never try anywhere else. I had the Better Than croissant. It’s served room temperature with honey, almond slivers, blueberries, and fresh basil. Strawberries never hurt anybody, so I added those.
Honestly, it’s not something I’d go out of my way to have again, but the boldness to put those ingredients together got my attention. Plus, just look at it. I know you’re still looking at the flower, but please look at my croissant.
My friend ordered a full Modern Avocado Toast and hot tea.
We decided before we left that we’d go again.
If you like quirky with outstanding lighthearted energy (like The Treehouse Beauty Suites), then it’s worth paying a visit. As a matter of fact, I think you should book your next massage and then head to The Modern Rose for tea and croissants.
